Do you thrive at the intersection of safety, quality, and schedule? Can you guide EPCs, OEMs, and third‑party startups to a flawless turnover while coordinating with TOs and ISOs to hit energization dates? If so, this Director‑level commissioning role for utility‑scale wind, solar, and battery assets is built for you.

The Challenge

  • Act as the owner’s representative for substation commissioning across a portfolio.
  • Own startup readiness and deliver operational turnover with minimal initial downtime.
  • Hold the line on contractual compliance, including PPA and LGIA deliverables with the local utility.
  • Lead the client’s on‑site commissioning team and orchestrate EPC, OEM, and third‑party partners.
  • Work hand‑in‑glove with site safety, engineering, and quality teams to resolve issues fast.

Engagement Details

  • Term: 1‑year contract (W‑2)
  • Reporting: Project Manager / Commissioning Director
  • Location: On‑site at substation; specific site provided. Per diem available.

What You’ll Rely On

  • Mastery of electrical construction/commissioning methods; NEC and NFPA fluency.
  • SCADA integration prowess and troubleshooting capability.
  • E&I controls and instrumentation installation/startup/troubleshooting.
  • Protection & Controls implementation and diagnostics.
  • Sharp eye for drawing reviews, QC inspections, and progress reporting.
  • Skill in managing suppliers and third parties.
  • Ability to lead direct reports and cultivate team performance.
  • Solid understanding of scheduling and planning to keep critical paths intact.

Background That Stands Out

  • 15+ years of on‑site support for renewable generation construction, startup, and commissioning.
  • At least 3 years with an EPC executing renewable construction startup and commissioning.
  • Demonstrated success partnering with engineering on complex technical issues.
  • Experience collaborating with construction on constructability, schedule, and cost management.

We are committed to transparency and equity in all our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $74.00/hr. to $79.00/hr.
