Being a Grant Writer for this non-profit organization means using your expertise to make a tangible difference in the fight against esophageal cancer in Africa. The role is a volunteer position on the Board of the African Esophageal Cancer Consortium (AfrECC) Foundation.
The AfrECC Foundation is a U.S.-based non-profit organization committed to reducing the burden of esophageal cancer in Africa through clinical care, education, prevention, and public awareness. Since 2016, AfrECC has been collaborating with numerous medical centers across Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia, where the incidence of esophageal squamous cell cancer (ESCC) is alarmingly high. It has supported training for physicians and nurses, placed over 1500 esophageal stents, conducted groundbreaking research, and pioneered innovative screening methods. Much of its funding comes from grants and financing from the National Cancer Institute, International Agency for Research on Cancer/branch of WHO, industry partners, and American medical centers.
