Position Description Associate Professor Christopher Meyer is seeking a graduate student to assist with ongoing research into mass timber fabrication, digital modeling, and communication with mass timber manufacturers. The position will involve both digital production and research/documentation

Responsibilities Expected Duties: Digital Modeling + CNC Fabrication: Develop and refine digital models with the specific objective of preparing files for CNC milling and fabrication. The models will be used for an upcoming exhibition focused on solid wood and mass timber architectural projects.

Fab Lab Coordination: Coordinate with the TuSABE Fabrication Lab to prepare, review, and organize CNC milling files and support the fabrication process.

Mass Timber Documentation: Develop a concise pamphlet/document outlining the basic information, drawings, specifications, and project requirements needed to communicate effectively with mass timber manufacturers. The document will establish basic expectations and requirements for mass timber manufacturing and CNC milling as they relate to architectural projects.

Wood Talks Symposium Support: Provide assistance and support for the Fall 2026 Wood Talks: Forests + Buildings symposium, including preparation of presentation and exhibition materials, research and documentation, graphic production, and other logistical tasks associated with the event.

Class Schedule

If Other Graduate student in architecture with fundamental knowledge of digital modeling, particularly Rhino, and an interest in digital fabrication and/or computational design processes. Experience with digital modeling, physical model making, and CNC fabrication is preferred. Strong organizational and graphic communication skills are required.
