About the role

Position Description A graduate student in an institution within the Texas Tech University System employed in support of a department or unit responsible for work assigned by the supervisor within the unit or department which utilizes knowledge beyond undergraduate academic studies. This graduate assistant to support instructional technology, faculty support, and learning management system (LMS) operations within the Julia Jones Matthews School of Population & Public Health.

Major/Essential Functions Graduate Assistant to support instructional technology, faculty support, and learning management system (LMS) operations within the Julia Jones Matthews School of Population & Public Health. Responsibilities may include:

  • Provide first-level support to faculty using Brightspace D2L and related instructional technologies.
  • Assist with LMS course administration, including course setup, content organization, testing, and quality assurance reviews.
  • Create and maintain faculty-facing documentation, user guides, quick-reference materials, and training resources.
  • Develop tutorial videos and instructional materials to support faculty adoption of educational technologies and best practices.
  • Assist with scheduling and management of Zoom meetings, virtual learning environments, and related technology support.
  • Support faculty with routine technology questions and provide individualized assistance with LMS navigation and instructional tools.
  • Conduct research and environmental scans related to online learning, instructional technology, accessibility, and educational best practices.
  • Assist with data collection, reporting, and tracking of faculty training, support requests, and educational technology initiatives.
  • Participate in special projects related to online learning, instructional design, faculty development, accreditation support, and continuous quality improvement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of instructional innovation, faculty success, and academic program operations.

Required Qualifications Enrolled in the graduate program of an institution within the Texas Tech University System.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current graduate student in public health, education, instructional technology, higher education, information systems, communications, or a related field.
  • Experience using learning management systems (Brightspace D2L preferred; Canvas, Blackboard, or Moodle acceptable).
  • Experience with Zoom, Microsoft 365, video creation/editing tools, or other educational technologies preferred.
