Government Affairs Intern

About This Role

This internship offers a curious and motivated individual the chance to work directly with the Government Affairs team at TensorWave, a company expanding its computing infrastructure across the country. The role involves gaining firsthand experience at the intersection of technology, public policy, economic development, and government relations. It is an opportunity to learn how emerging technology companies navigate legislation, build relationships with government and community leaders, and expand into new markets.

Responsibilities

• Monitor federal, state, and local legislation related to AI, data centers, energy, and economic development
• Help identify emerging trends and potential impacts on TensorWave
• Research government agencies, economic development organizations, elected officials, and community partners in markets where TensorWave operates or plans to expand
• Help prepare concise policy summaries, stakeholder profiles, meeting materials, and presentations for internal leadership and external engagements
• Support research on prospective markets, including local government structures, economic development opportunities, and community priorities
• Assist with maintaining stakeholder databases, legislative trackers, project updates, and other tools that help keep the department organized
• Participate in team meetings and, when opportunities arise, attend government meetings, industry events, and community engagements alongside the Government Affairs team

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Public Administration, Communications, Economics, Business, or a related field
• Interested in government, public policy, technology/infrastructure, economic development, or community engagement
• A strong researcher and communicator who can organize information and explain key findings clearly
• Organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple assignments
• Comfortable using Microsoft Office or Google Workspace, with a willingness to learn new research and tracking tools
• Curious, proactive, dependable, and willing to ask questions and take initiative

• Schedule: Tuesday - Friday, 8 hours
• Contract: 12 weeks
