Golang Engineer

About This Role

This engineering role focuses on connecting Grocery Partners with the Just Eat Takeaway platform, evolving its integration platform, and maintaining core functionality that thousands of partners rely on. It is a mid-level position with a clear path to senior, suitable for an engineer with solid fundamentals, a desire to grow, and a willingness to contribute beyond individual delivery.

Responsibilities

• Build new features in the core language, Golang
• Contribute to architectural decisions and help move the platform forward
• Support product and delivery teams
• Learn from senior engineers, and share knowledge with the team

Requirements

• Some years of backend engineering experience
• 1+ year of production Go experience (or 2+ years in another modern backend language, with clear evidence of quick Go adoption)
• Solid Go fundamentals: concurrency, error handling, and interfaces
• Microservice and event-driven design experience
• Built and run at least one production service end to end, including monitoring and fixing issues
• Experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD)
• Curiosity and ownership
• Great communication skills
• Ability to use AI-assisted development tools (like Claude Code and Kiro) to move faster while retaining engineering judgment, and explain and defend shipped code
• Pair programming experience

Nice to have:

• Experience with Kubernetes or another container platform
