About the Organization
Olympus's IT department is a specialized organization that supports a global medical device company through technology, with over 500 professionals active across five regions worldwide.
As a headquarters function, it is divided into six functions, from business strategy to security, each utilizing IT to support Olympus's business.
Since 2019, we have been pursuing a transformation plan called "Transform Olympus" aimed at becoming a true global medical technology company, with a strong emphasis on global activities originating from Japan.
Role Overview
The GIS Division BRM is a strategic leader responsible for shaping and driving the execution of the global IT strategy for the assigned business division (GIS). This role is accountable for maximizing the value of IT investments by effectively stimulating, shaping, managing, and realizing business demand across all geographies and business functions. Acting as a trusted advisor, the Division BRM serves as the voice of the business division (GIS) within IT and the voice of IT within the business division, ensuring alignment, transparency, and mutual value creation.
From the business perspective, the BRM is an initiative-taking advocate and the primary IT representative, fostering strong executive-level relationships and driving business-centric IT outcomes. From the IT perspective, the BRM is a strategist, orchestrator, and communicator who ensures that IT capabilities are fully leveraged to support business growth, innovation, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Roadmap Definition, Demand Management and Delivery
- Strategic Planning: Actively support the definition of the Division Strategic Plans. Define, own, and drive the global IT strategy for the assigned GIS Division, in direct alignment with the Division strategic priorities and business goals. Ensures the consistent linkage between Division priority goals and the Global Function data & technology-related initiatives.
- Demand Shaping: Proactively identify, shape, and manage business demand for IT investments across all geographies and functions for the Division in charge. Ensure that prioritized demand is translated into budgeted, well-scoped, value-driven IT initiatives.
- Roadmap Ownership: Develop and maintain a multi-year roadmap for business capabilities and system landscapes for the Division in charge. Establish and maintain a clear understanding of business capabilities requiring differentiation against the other Division (GIS) and competitors.
- Solution Coordination: Collaborate with Global Function BRMs, Enterprise Architecture, Solution Delivery, and Service Delivery teams to ensure timely and effective delivery of IT solutions. Lead RFP processes and vendor evaluations where necessary.
- Value Realization: Establish post-implementation review processes to assess outcomes, capture lessons learned and continuously improve IT value delivery.
Stakeholder Management & Relationship Development
- Executive Partnership: Build and maintain strong relationships with executive stakeholders of the Division. Function as a trusted advisor, raising digital literacy and enabling business leaders to leverage technology and data to better drive business performance.
- Advocacy & Influence: Represent IT within the Division and the Division within IT. Advocate for enterprise-wide IT initiatives and ensure business leaders understand and support strategic IT investments.
- Communication & Transparency: Ensure clear, consistent communication of IT plans, changes, and impacts. Facilitate alignment between business priorities and IT capabilities.
- Voice of the Customer (VoC): Establish and manage a VoC process to assess satisfaction with IT services and identify areas for improvement in both IT and business engagement.
People Leadership (if applicable)
- Collaboration Culture: Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-trust environment across IT and business teams.

Application Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business administration
- Master’s degree in computer science, business administration (or equivalent and related experience preferred)
- BRM Institute certification would be a plus (not mandatory)
Experience:
- Specialized experience
- Minimum 10 years of experience as a global general manager or senior IT consultant across key business domains (Commercials, Supply Chain.)
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the medical industry (preferably 7-10 years), either in a consulting company or directly in a life science healthcare company.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in value creation and demand planning activities. Experience of Design Thinking, Value Stream Mapping, Business Capability modelling would be a plus.
- Strong working understanding of major business processes, key performance indicators, best-in-class practices, business, and technology trends across key business domains.
- Solid understanding of the current and planned technical architecture, platforms and solutions that support the business, and a sound understanding of the broader technology environment.
- Experience of both solution consulting and implementation/support.
- Proven experience of new digital-driven customer solutions in the medical industry would be a plus (e.g., AI for Computer Aided Diagnostics)
- Experience in successfully managing teams and Executive stakeholders in multiple geographies.

Other Considerations (travel/hours availability, etc.):
- Due to the global nature of the role, flexibility will be required for conference calls outside of local time zone business hours, as well as some travel.
