About This Role
This role involves executing geological exploration activities, mapping, core logging, and sampling to identify and evaluate mineral resource potential. The position suits a geologist with experience in exploration, resource definition, or geological modeling, who is comfortable working in dynamic field conditions.
Responsibilities
- Execute geological exploration activities to identify and evaluate mineral resource potential
- Support the planning and implementation of exploration programs according to targets and work plans
- Collect, process, and interpret geological data from exploration activities
- Perform geological mapping in exploration areas
- Identify lithology, geological structures, alteration, mineralization, and other geological characteristics
- Create and update geological maps based on field observations
- Systematically log core from drilling activities according to established standards
- Record information on lithology, mineralization, alteration, structure, recovery, and other core characteristics
- Ensure logging data is accurately and completely documented
- Conduct geological sampling for laboratory analysis needs
- Apply QA/QC procedures in the sampling process, including the use of blanks, standards, and duplicates according to company procedures
- Ensure the integrity and quality of sampling data before use for geological interpretation
- Support resource definition activities through the collection and interpretation of geological and drilling data
- Assist in interpreting mineralization continuity based on available exploration data
- Prepare geological data required for the resource estimation process
- Create and develop geological models using software such as Leapfrog or Micromine
- Perform interpretation and modeling of geological/mineralization domains based on exploration data
- Review and update models based on the latest exploration data
- Compile reports on exploration activities, geological mapping, drilling, logging, and sampling results
- Ensure geological databases and documentation are well-maintained
- Coordinate with the exploration team and related departments in the implementation of geological activities
Requirements
- Minimum D3/S1 in Geological Engineering, Geology, or a related field
- Minimum 2 years of experience in geological exploration, resource definition, or geological modeling
- Proficiency in using Leapfrog and/or Micromine
- Understanding of geological mapping and interpretation of geological data
- Experience in core logging
- Understanding of QA/QC sampling procedures
