This role involves conducting geological surveys, field investigations, sampling, mapping, and analysis of mineral deposits and raw materials to support mining, quarry, and cement manufacturing operations. The Geologist evaluates the quality, quantity, distribution, and characteristics of limestone and other mineral resources used in cement production, and assists in resource estimation, mine planning, geological modeling, and technical report preparation.
Responsibilities
Conduct geological field surveys, geological mapping, and site investigations to identify and evaluate mineral deposits and raw material resources
Collect, prepare, label, and document rock, soil, limestone, and other mineral samples for laboratory analysis
Evaluate the quality and composition of limestone, clay, shale, and other raw materials used in cement manufacturing
Monitor drilling activities, core logging, and exploration programs to determine the geological characteristics and extent of mineral deposits
Prepare geological maps, cross-sections, stratigraphic logs, and other technical drawings
Assist in estimating mineral resources and reserves using geological data, sampling results, and applicable estimation methods
Monitor quarry faces, bench development, exposed rock formations, and geological conditions to support safe and efficient extraction
Analyze laboratory results and correlate geological data to assess raw material suitability and consistency for cement production
Coordinate with mining engineers, geodetic engineers, surveyors, quarry personnel, and plant operations teams regarding geological findings and extraction requirements
Maintain and update geological databases, drilling records, sampling logs, maps, and other technical documentation
Assist in preparing geological assessment reports, exploration reports, resource evaluations, and production-related technical reports
Identify geological hazards and potential operational risks, such as unstable rock formations, faults, fractures, and unsuitable ground conditions
Support quarry planning, mine development, and resource management activities to minimize waste and maximize raw material utilization
Ensure compliance with applicable DENR, Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB), environmental, occupational safety, and company requirements
Perform other related duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor
