General Manager - Car Dealership

About This Role

Leading daily operations and guiding the sales team toward strong customer experiences and business results is the core of this General Manager role at a car dealership. You will oversee sales, inventory, and customer relationships while building a focused, accountable team. By coordinating sales and inventory decisions, you help customers find suitable vehicles and support a smooth dealership experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead sales management, coach the team, and monitor progress toward sales targets across passenger car, retail, and business-to-business (B2B) sales
• Build the sales pipeline through outside and outbound sales, cold calling, and customer relationship building; support deal closing, upselling, and high-end sales
• Guide negotiation, sales negotiation, and closing sales while explaining automotive financing options clearly
• Oversee inventory management and inventory control; apply retail math and sound organizational practices to align stock with sales activity
• Maintain customer service standards, client communication, and phone etiquette; use customer relationship management (CRM) software and technically supported CRM systems to track activity

Requirements

• Dealership experience and automotive industry sales experience, including automobile sales or passenger car sales, are preferred
• Demonstrated sales, sales team management, deal closing, and customer service skills; experience achieving sales targets is an asset
• Strong communication skills, negotiation, and customer relationship building, with confidence in public speaking and client communication
• Familiarity with sales pipeline management, sales support, automotive financing options, and CRM software
• Math, retail math, and organizational skills; bilingual or multilingual ability is an asset
