Game Programmer

About This Role

Working on complex gameplay systems, optimizing game performance, and ensuring high-quality code are the core responsibilities of this Game Programmer role. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and execute the technical vision of projects, mentor junior programmers, and play a key role in the overall game development process.

Responsibilities

• Implement gameplay features and systems in Unreal Engine (Blueprints and C++)
• Drive technical decisions and ensure the architecture and systems scale effectively for the project
• Mentor and guide junior programmers, providing technical leadership and fostering a culture of collaboration and growth
• Collaborate with designers, artists, and other engineers to implement features, optimize performance, and troubleshoot technical issues
• Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code while ensuring best practices and standards are followed
• Optimize game performance and ensure smooth gameplay across a variety of platforms
• Contribute to the overall design and implementation of multiplayer, AI, physics, and other core gameplay systems
• Conduct code reviews to maintain high standards and ensuring robust, bug-free code
• Stay current with the latest trends, techniques, and tools in game development and Unreal Engine

Requirements

• Deep understanding of game development principles, including gameplay mechanics, artificial intelligence, physics, and optimization
• Expertise in performance profiling and optimization across various platforms (PC, console, mobile)
• Solid experience with Unreal Engine's networking systems, multiplayer games, and online features
• Strong experience with version control systems (e.g., Perforce) and collaborative development workflows
• Proven ability to work on large-scale projects and meet deadlines while maintaining high-quality code
• Exceptional problem-solving skills with the ability to tackle complex technical challenges
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to work effectively with cross-disciplinary teams
• Leadership and mentoring experience in a technical setting

Nice to have:

• Strong understanding of Unreal Engine's networking systems for both dedicated servers and peer-to-peer architectures
• Experience with replication, networked gameplay, latency compensation, and server-authoritative game design
• Familiarity with matchmaking, lobby systems, and multiplayer UI/UX within Unreal Engine
• Experience with cloud services (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud) for multiplayer infrastructure
• Knowledge of network optimization techniques to ensure smooth, responsive gameplay across varying network conditions
