Game Narrative Designer

About This Role

Designing the narrative for games, from the world and plot to the characters and systems, is the core of this role. It suits a creative writer with a strong understanding of pop culture and a passion for immersive storytelling in games.

Responsibilities

• Set and write the portrayed game world according to the game producers' requirements
• Set the game plot in accordance with the game's portrayed world
• Refine elements within the portrayed world to set the needs and materials for the art production of scenes and in-game characters
• Portray the various systems based on the portrayed world to ensure the immersive feeling of players in the game
• Conduct targeted culture research according to the demand of product development
• Write game publicity articles and product announcements in accordance with the demand and needs provided by the product's promotion plan and market strategy

Requirements

• Formal professional experience in game narrative writing
• Extensive understanding of American pop culture
• Rich imagination, strong story-telling ability, good knowledge of traditional culture and sensitivity to popular culture
• Proficient in writing romance and drama genres
• Lots of experience with popular games, and a passion for games
• Diligent and dedicated, with good communication skills and cooperation spirit
• Strong literary ability
• Experience working with international teams in different time zones

Important Details

• Work format: remote, cooperating with a team based in Shanghai
• Schedule: 4-5 hours per day (ideally at least 2 in the evening)
• Working days: 4 days per week (Monday to Thursday)
