About This Role
Developing games for various platforms is the core of this role, which involves designing and building gameplay systems, implementing responsive UI, and optimizing performance. This position suits a game developer with strong programming fundamentals and a passion for creating engaging player experiences.
Responsibilities
- Design and build gameplay systems: player movement, combat, progression, AI behavior, economy, and game feel
- Develop in Unity (C#), Unreal Engine (C++/Blueprints), Godot, or our proprietary engine, depending on the project
- Implement UI, input, camera, animation, and audio systems that make the game feel responsive and polished
- Build and optimize multiplayer and online features: networking, matchmaking, backend services, and live-ops tooling
- Profile and optimize performance across PC, console, and mobile (frame rate, memory, load times, battery)
- Prototype quickly, playtest often, and iterate on real player feedback and telemetry
- Create tools and pipelines that help designers, artists, and QA move faster
- Work with designers, artists, animators, audio, and producers to take features from concept to release
- Write clean, tested, maintainable code and take part in friendly code reviews
- Support platform certification and releases (Steam, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, iOS, Android) and help support live titles
- Share knowledge through pairing, demos, and internal tech talks
Requirements
- Strong programming fundamentals in C# or C++, including data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design
- Hands-on experience with a game engine (Unity, Unreal, Godot, or similar)
- Understanding of core game development concepts: game loops, physics, collision, state machines, and basic 3D math
- Experience with Git or other version control
- Passion for games and curiosity about why something feels good or bad to play
- At least one playable project you can show: a shipped game, game jam entry, mod, or personal prototype
- Degree or diploma in Computer Science, Game Development, or a related field (including Canadian college game programs), or equivalent experience. A strong playable portfolio counts as much as a degree.
- Legal authorization to work in Canada (citizens, permanent residents, and valid work permit holders)
Nice to have:
- Shipped titles on PC, console, or mobile
- Multiplayer networking experience (Photon, Mirror, Netcode, Unreal replication, dedicated servers)
- Graphics or shader experience (HLSL, GLSL, Shader Graph, Niagara)
- Gameplay AI experience (behavior trees, navigation, utility AI)
- Performance profiling and optimization experience
