Game Designer

About This Role

Designing single-player and indie titles for Steam is the core of this role, which involves owning the product and design side of projects from concept to release. This position offers a clear growth trajectory, starting with game design and collaboration with an external development partner, with a path to grow into a Producer role leading internal production capabilities over time.

Responsibilities

• Own the design of games, including systems, levels, mechanics, progression, and economy, from concept to release
• Create and maintain clear, detailed Game Design Documents (GDDs) for the development partner
• Work closely with the external development team across the full production cycle: requirements, milestones, reviews, and delivery
• Use AI tools to support and accelerate design work, concept creation, and content production
• Contribute to product direction and help shape what is built and why
• Over time, take ownership of full product cycles and help build out internal production capability

Requirements

• A strong sense of what makes a game fun and the ability to articulate why
• Deep familiarity with single-player and indie games on Steam; genuine passion for the craft
• The ability to turn a rough idea into a clear, complete, and buildable design document
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, comfortable working across remote and cross-cultural teams
• Curiosity about how games are built; understanding the boundaries and possibilities of game development (coding not required)
• Proficiency with AI tools to support design and production work
• Open to Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents only

Nice to have:

• A portfolio of design work (GDDs, game analysis, prototypes, game jam entries, or deep-dive reviews)
• Experience with any game engine (Unity, Godot, Unreal) for personal projects
• Familiarity with Steam publishing and the indie game ecosystem
