About the role
Summary:
Renders assistance to patients and professional staff, within an assigned unit of the Center or authorized community site, in support of medical care as directed by the nursing and medical staff and pursuant to the objectives and policies of the Center. Performs job duties in compliance with systems and job specific standards. Performs any additional jobs or duties as assigned.
Responsibilities:
- Completes or assists in the completion of various patient forms such as insurance claims, disability forms, medication approvals, etc.
- Prepare exam room and any needed equipment and assists/chaperones during examination and treatment of patients
- Coordinates and facilitates the orientation and training of new Medical Assistant
- Responsible for working with Nurse Manager and Operations Manager to coordinate clinical workflow and assist other Medical Assistants with processes
- Perform in-house labs, perform quality control and maintenance of equipment in accordance with organizational protocols
- Cleans and sterilizes all equipment and logs according to organizational policy and/or manufacturers guidelines
- Keeps clinical area stocked and in good order. Maintains stock of laboratory supplies. Assures that all dated material is kept current and disposes of outdated supplies
- Perform basic clerical work in service area; answer phones in appropriate manner, communicate problems/concerns to nurse; handle telephone inquiries
- Responsible for performing, training, and documenting CLIA controls
- Draws blood and collects other specimens as directed by providers and processes accordingly\
- Conducts routine tests in areas such as serology, hematology, chemistry, histology and cytology using standard techniques and equipment. Collect specimens for out-side labs (ex. Pap, cultures, etc.)
- Performs EKGs
- Takes vital signs, vision, and/or hearing tests, record patient data in eCW, (laboratory results, pain level, PEAS, PhQ, Smoke status, etc.), Document reason for visit and insure CVRs are completed as needed
- Ensures all appropriate logs are maintained. Keeps records for laboratory tests
- Coordinates and facilitates the orientation and training of Medical Assistants on new equipment and procedures
- Complete and coordinate prior authorization requests for medications, diagnostic tests, specialty services, durable medical equipment (DME), and other treatments as required by insurance payers
Requirements:
- CPR/BLS
- Medical Assistant Diploma Certificate
- National Certification from an accredited institution (PREFERRED); candidates who possess a qualifying national certification may be eligible for compensation placement within the Certified Medical Assistant structure.
Job Type: Full Time
Pay: $22.00 - 25.47
