Freight Broker

About This Role

This full-time, on-site Freight Broker role is based in Naperville, IL. The Freight Broker will coordinate freight movements by sourcing and negotiating with carriers, securing capacity, and matching loads to appropriate transportation solutions.

Responsibilities

• Build and manage a portfolio of shipper and carrier accounts
• Handle incoming load requests
• Dispatch carriers
• Monitor shipments to ensure timely pick-up and delivery
• Proactively communicate with customers and carriers
• Resolve service issues
• Update all parties on shipment status and exceptions
• Maintain accurate records in the company’s systems
• Follow pricing and margin guidelines
• Support continuous improvement in logistics processes

Requirements

• Proficiency in Freight Brokerage and Brokerage activities, including sourcing carriers, negotiating rates, and matching shipments with available capacity
• Strong Customer Service skills, with the ability to respond promptly to inquiries, manage expectations, and build long-term client relationships
• Experience in Dispatching, including coordinating driver schedules, providing load details, and tracking shipments from origin to destination
• Account Management capabilities, such as maintaining and growing shipper and carrier accounts, monitoring performance, and identifying new opportunities
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including confident phone and email communication with customers and carriers
• Solid organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple loads and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Comfort with computer-based work, including TMS or logistics platforms, spreadsheets, and basic data entry
• Minimum 4 years demonstrable industry experience required
• Book of business required
