Foreman I, Plant Mechanic

Duties

• This position is designated as a "Work/Crew Lead" position and as such provides leadership (technical knowledge) with immediate accountability and responsibility for the productive work of a small crew.

• Performs duties as the lead journeyman for a staff of three powerplant mechanics to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair hydro-electric powerplants, pumping plant, and support structures and equipment.

• Monitors and performs mechanical maintenance, which includes welding, pipefitting, machining, and crane and rigging operations.

• Monitors progress of monthly and annual work orders for accuracy and completion, and communicates information and instructions to team members.

• Performs the duties of a job supervisor associated with FIST 1.1: Requesting, Switching, Holding, Monitoring, and Releasing Power System Clearances.

• Starts, stops, and operates generation and pump units, i.e. gates, valves, and breakers, in accordance with standard operating procedures.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications for trades and labor positions are determined by evaluation of job elements. You must meet at least 2 points on the screen-out element(s) and obtain an average of at least 2 points on all job elements in order to be considered qualified for this position.

6. Ability to maintain, install, repair, and troubleshoot powerplant and mobile equipment.
7. Knowledge of welding plumbing, and pipefitting.
8. Ability to operate cableway hoists, overhead mobile, bridge and gantry cranes.
