About the role

Duties

  • This position is designated as a "Work/Crew Lead" position and as such provides leadership (technical knowledge) with immediate accountability and responsibility for the productive work of a small crew.

  • Foreman I (lead journeyman) for installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of supporting facility structures and equipment, e.g. generators, exciters, governor controls, transformers, and power circuit breakers.

  • Communicates information and instructions to team members. Writes electrical clearances and requests outages.

  • Monitors and performs electrical maintenance, including application of electrical theory for hydroelectric pump and/or generate power plant(s).

  • Interprets and applies information from electrical diagrams, schematics, standard operating procedures and manufacturer's instructions.

  • Instructs crew on safety processes and techniques, assigns maintenance management work orders, and performs purchasing product specification research.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications for trades and labor positions are determined by evaluation of job elements. You must meet at least 2 points on the screen-out element(s) and obtain an average of at least 2 points on all of the job elements in order to be considered qualified for this position.

  2. Ability to lead or supervise.

  3. Ability to maintain, install, repair and troubleshoot powerplant and mobile equipment.

  4. Theory of electrical equipment/knowledge of electrical circuitry.

  5. Ability to use and maintain various machines, equipment, power and hand tools associated with the Journey Level Electrician trade.

  6. Knowledge of safe clearance procedures and safety standards.

  7. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and manufacturer's instructions.
