About the role
Duties
Performs a variety of manual tasks in food and bar service areas such as cashier/checking, set-up and clean-up of rooms for daily food service operations and special functions, bartending, daily cleaning of food service equipment and facilities, serving of food to customers from buffet lines, self-service food bars, deliver of call-in orders or by providing table service, greeting of guests and seating them in dining area and the preparation of hot and cold sandwiches, breakfast items, salads, desserts and other food items. Secures vegetables and fruits and washes, peels, slices or prepares them for cooking and serving. Slices meats and prepares hot and cold sandwiches. Prepares pizzas as directed. Wraps, arranges and packages food and beverages for carry-out and delivers to various designated areas or buildings. Prepares special salads, hors d’oeuvres, desserts and other food items to accommodate unique groups, such as formal dining functions, buffets, receptions, and catered events. Operates a cash register according to standard cash control procedures; is responsible for own cash fund, completes daily activity report and secures deposit of daily cash receipts. Rings sales by items, totals the sales, receives money and makes change. Serves prepared foods to customers off of buffet line or by delivering food to the table. Greets guest and directs them to table if applicable. Prepares a limited variety of alcoholic drinks. Performs related duties including assisting in setting up of the food service line, replenishing beverage and ice dispensers, making coffee, stocking of food coolers and displays. Assist in the set-up of rooms for daily service or special functions such as meetings, receptions, special events, etc. Cleans equipment in kitchen and dining area. Moves heavy garbage cans. Responsible for the daily cleaning of the food service equipment and facilities, including dusting, organizing, polishing, sweeping, mopping and general cleaning. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Must be able to follow recipes and combine ingredients as directed. Ability to operate commercial food service equipment. Ability to operate a cash register. Must have a valid driver’s license. Must be 18 years of age.
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
