About the role
The Food Service Worker 1 is responsible for preparing and serving meals in accordance with established safety and sanitation standards. This role includes cleaning work areas, restocking supplies, and assisting with food storage and inventory. The worker interacts with customers and staff to ensure a positive dining experience.

- Food Handling Including Preparation and/or Delivery
- Ability to deliver/pick up patient tray line, open/close cafeteria, set up/pick up catering events, or set up/pick up doctor lounges in a timely manner.
- Always friendly and helpful, using good judgement when dealing with guest problems and maintains good traffic flow.
- Sanitation and/or Cleaning
- Areas are kept cleaned and well stocked at all times.
- Maintains cleanliness and safety of kitchen and work area.
- Adheres to infection control and sanitation procedures.
- Teamwork
- Cooperates and performs duties as assigned by supervisor and willing to adjust schedule to complete work load and perform task promptly and correctly.
- When requested, adjusts personal schedule to meet department/unit needs.
- Utilizes time to accomplish work in an efficient manner.
- Ensures job duties are complete prior to leaving.
- Knowledge of basic customer service skills by dealing tactfully and courteously with employees, physicians, patients and guests

- Demonstrates the knowledge of small equipment usuage and reports problems to supervisor.
- Adheres to hospital policy on the usage of Paid Time Off and Extended Illness Time.
- Reports to work on time, and if necessary, reports tardiness to approprate person.
- Maintains a professional appearance, according to job requirements, at all times.
- Employee shall conform to regulatory, customer and organizational requirements.
- Attended all required mandatory educational sessions.
- Responds approprately to fire, safety and diaster situations. Utilizes Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in the appropriate manner for optimal personal protection.
- Adheres to infection control practices. Has completed required TB skin test(s).
- Assumes personal responsibility for ongoing continuing education and professional development.
- Accepts additional work assignments as assigned by supervisor.
Experience - 1 year experience
Education - High school or equivalent
Training - Food Handling and/or Safe Food Handling Training, Customer Service Training
Special Skills - Reading, Writing, Simple Mathematical Skills, Computer Basics
