About This Role
This role involves joining a dynamic team at a newly established Jamaican food restaurant, bringing the flavors of Jamaica to customers. The restaurant is seeking enthusiastic, customer-oriented individuals to fill the roles of Cashier Server and Food Preparer. It suits those with a passion for exceptional service, a love for Jamaican cuisine, and who thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers with a warm and friendly demeanor, providing an excellent first impression
- Efficiently and accurately handle customer transactions, including cash, credit cards, and digital payments
- Answer customer inquiries about menu items, and specials, and provide recommendations
- Maintain a clean and organized cashier station
- Collaborate with the kitchen staff to ensure orders are prepared accurately and delivered promptly
- Upsell and promote special items or add-ons to enhance the customer experience
- Handle customer concerns and complaints professionally and escalate issues when necessary
- Prepare and assemble menu items according to established recipes and presentation standards
- Ensure food quality and freshness by adhering to proper food handling and sanitation guidelines
- Maintain a clean and organized food preparation area, following health and safety standards
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to coordinate the timing of food orders and ensure smooth service
- Monitor and restock ingredients to maintain an efficient workflow
- Follow portion control guidelines to minimize waste and control costs
- Assist in receiving and inspecting food deliveries to ensure quality and accuracy
Requirements
- Previous experience in a customer service or cashier role is preferred
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact positively with customers
- Familiarity with cash handling procedures and basic math skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask effectively
- Knowledge or interest in Jamaican cuisine is a plus
- Previous experience in food preparation or a similar role in the restaurant industry
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
- Ability to follow recipes accurately and efficiently
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with kitchen staff
