Food Service Worker

About This Role

This full-time, on-site role focuses on preparing, portioning, and serving nutritious and enjoyable meals to students in a welcoming cafeteria environment. It suits an individual who is committed to food safety and works efficiently to create positive dining experiences.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily meal preparation, portioning, and serving food to students in a friendly and efficient manner
• Set up and break down service areas
• Maintain cleanliness in the kitchen and dining spaces
• Follow established food safety and sanitation procedures
• Handle basic cashier or serving duties
• Restock supplies
• Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth, timely service
• Support a positive cafeteria atmosphere by providing courteous customer service
• Help create a safe, welcoming environment for students

Requirements

• Food preparation and food service skills, including the ability to follow recipes, portion meals, and serve food efficiently
• Knowledge of food safety practices and sanitation standards, with a commitment to maintaining a clean and safe work environment
• Experience or comfort working in food & beverage settings, such as cafeterias, restaurants, or other food service operations
• Customer service skills, including clear communication, patience, and a friendly approach to interacting with students, staff, and visitors
• Ability to stand for extended periods, lift moderate weights, and work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
• Reliability, punctuality, and the ability to work as part of a diverse team with a positive, respectful attitude
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Willingness to complete any required background checks and compliance training

• Previous school dining or institutional food service experience
