Food Scientist (R&D Application Lab Executive)

About This Role

Developing new product applications and concepts for food and beverage flavorings is the core of this role, working closely with flavorists, sales, marketing, and laboratory teams. This position suits a passionate and creative individual with strong sensory skills and experience in the consumer flavor market.

Responsibilities

• Manage flavor collections and accumulate knowledge of raw materials, ingredients, olfactory families specific to odor and sensory evaluation
• Develop new product applications and concepts in accordance with specified customer requirements
• Work with flavorist, sales, marketing, and laboratory teams to ensure the right flavors are selected and created for customers
• Be responsible for the product application of flavors into trial food products
• Keep up-to-date with flavor trends and effectively communicate about profiles
• Evaluate new creations and products already on the market by smelling, tasting, and describing them
• Be the intermediary between creation and marketing by managing projects and client briefs
• Understand client briefs and translate them to the flavorist, presenting client expectations and reinterpreting them to be most relevant
• Assist sales managers in visiting customers for technical support

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Food Science / Food Technology or equivalent
• At least 3 years of working experience in the related field
• Good olfactive/sensory skills
• Required skill(s): MS Office (Excel, Word & PowerPoint)
• Possess good analytical troubleshooting & problem-solving skills
• A team player with good analytical, problem-solving skills and ability to take initiatives and effectively work to project timelines
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
• Good command of English and Bahasa Malaysia
