About the role

Company Description

We are a specialty flooring company based in Los Angeles, focused on premium hardwood flooring — we source lumber from all over the world and manufacture some of the most premium hardwood products at our mill in Los Angeles. Our projects range from custom residential homes to high-end commercial interiors, and our work is known by architects and designers throughout the world. We manufacture and install engineered and solid hardwood, including wide-plank French Oak, herringbone, and chevron patterns. BoardHouse also manufactures a full suite of custom wood products, such as stair parts, wall & ceiling paneling, box beams and more. We are a fully integrated company– we practice full custody of our materials by controlling our products from the time they are sourced in Europe to the time they are realized in our client’s homes.

We're a lean, skilled team and we care deeply about craft. Most of our installation team has been working with us for over 25 years and take a lot of pride in both their work and the service that they provide to our clients. If you take pride in your work and enjoy setting high standards for yourself and your co-workers, this is the right place for you.

Role Description

We are looking to add various hardwood flooring installers to our team, and are looking for team members across all skill levels. Previous experience installing hardwood flooring or doing carpentry work is a plus, but a coachable and hardworking attitude is also very important to us. We primarily install pre-finished floors, but we also install stairs, sand and refinish existing flooring, correct subfloors that are not up to standards, and much more. You will be responsible for the full scope of installation — from site prep and subfloor work through final installation and finishing — across a range of residential and light commercial projects in the greater Los Angeles area. You will always be working under a project lead, so you will have lots of guidance and will be learning a lot of new skills that will shape you into a true professional in this trade. This role is for someone who works with precision, communicates professionally on job sites, and understands that the quality of the install is the quality of the product.

Responsibilities:

  • Install solid and engineered hardwood flooring using nail-down, glue-down, and floating methods.
  • Execute complex pattern work including herringbone and chevron layouts.
  • Assess and prepare subfloors — grinding, self-leveling, moisture testing, and remediation.
  • Read and interpret layout drawings and installation specifications.
  • Acclimate, measure, cut, and fit product to tight tolerances.
  • Coordinate with site superintendents, GCs, and trade partners.
  • Communicate job site conditions, delays, or issues clearly and promptly.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional job site at all times.
