Directing vehicular and pedestrian traffic around construction zones is the core of this job, safeguarding workers, motorists, and the public. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work outdoors on dynamic civil infrastructure projects, ensuring safety and smooth traffic flow. Your proactive approach and attention to safety protocols will help maintain efficient operations while adhering to all relevant regulations.

Responsibilities

• Safely direct traffic around construction sites using standardized hand signals, flags, or signage to prevent accidents and ensure smooth flow
• Monitor work zones continuously, adjusting traffic control measures as needed based on site conditions and project requirements
• Communicate clearly with construction crews, drivers, pedestrians, and other team members to coordinate movements effectively
• Follow all safety protocols, including FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations, to protect yourself and others in high-traffic environments
• Assist with setting up and maintaining traffic control devices such as cones, barriers, signs, and flagging stations
• Report any safety hazards or incidents immediately to supervisors and document occurrences accurately
• Support heavy equipment operation when required, including familiarity with machinery like dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, and front loader trucks

Requirements

• ATSSA Flagger certification
• OSHA 10 certification
• Strong understanding of safety protocols related to construction sites and roadwork environments
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to remain alert and focused in high-pressure situations
• Physical stamina for outdoor work in varying weather conditions; experience working on construction projects is ideal
