Job Purpose or Objective(s):
The Fitness Specialist 1 administers fitness testing procedures and counsels individuals regarding fitness test results and provides guidance on the use of exercise equipment or recommended group fitness classes. You will report to the Fitness Center Manager.
Primary Tasks:
- You will screen medical histories and current health status to identify major health risk factors and counsel individuals regarding test results and use of exercise equipment.
- Plan, coordinate and implement the development of exercise and group fitness programs for a variety of populations, including seniors and special populations.
- Administer biometric health screens including blood pressure, lipid panels, blood glucose, and body composition readings.
- Responsible for developing safe exercise prescriptions, goal setting and exercise progression for low, medium and high-risk members.
- Responsible for meeting needs of wellness members, building productive customer relationships, and taking responsibility for customer satisfaction and loyalty.
- Monitor wellness facility, members, and guests and educates and enforces procedures.
- You will show proper exercise techniques with clear instructions.
- Assess members of signs and symptoms of exercise intolerance.
- Other responsibilities as may be assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
- High school diploma and/or GED
- Current fitness or exercise certification from an accredited institution.
- Willing to attain CPR/AED within 60 days.
- One [1] year applicable experience
