Firmware Engineer

About This Role

This role is for an Embedded Firmware Engineer to work on automotive opportunities in Turin. The successful candidate will develop embedded firmware in C for automotive electronic control units (ECUs) and work in a real-time environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop embedded firmware in C for automotive electronic control units (ECUs)
• Integrate and configure communication on CAN bus, with a particular focus on the J1939 protocol
• Work in a real-time environment, dealing with tasks, interrupts, and embedded RTOS/OS management
• Collaborate with Hardware, Test, and System teams for requirements analysis and specification definition
• Perform debug and troubleshooting activities on real targets, using measurement tools and bus analysis
• Participate in the definition and implementation of diagnostic and error management strategies
• Contribute to the drafting of technical documentation and compliance with automotive quality standards
• Support the adherence to project timelines, working on firmware releases with tight deadlines

Requirements

• Degree in Electronic, Computer, Automation Engineering or similar, or equivalent experience
• At least 2 years of experience in embedded firmware development in the automotive field
• Good knowledge of C language, CANbus, J1939 protocol, and real-time/RTOS concepts
• English language proficiency at a minimum B2 level

Nice to have:

• Experience with Simulink (modeling, autocode, or model integration) and with CAN analysis tools (e.g., CANalyzer, CANoe, PCAN)
