Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role based in Boise, ID for a Firmware CI/CD and Release Infrastructure Engineer. The role focuses on designing, implementing, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines that support firmware development, integration, and automated testing. The engineer will build and manage release infrastructure, including configuration management, build systems, and deployment automation for embedded and firmware products. Daily activities include collaborating with firmware and software engineering teams, optimizing build and test processes, monitoring pipeline performance, and troubleshooting issues across development, staging, and production environments. The role may also involve improving tooling, documenting processes, and contributing to best practices for secure, reliable, and scalable release workflows.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in CI/CD tools and automation (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, or similar) to design and maintain robust pipelines.
- Experience with version control and build systems (e.g., Git, GitHub/GitLab, CMake, Bazel, or other build and dependency management tools).
- Knowledge of firmware/embedded development environments and workflows, including cross-compilers, flashing tools, and hardware-in-the-loop testing.
- Skills in scripting and automation languages (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell) for pipeline orchestration, tooling integration, and process optimization.
- Understanding of release management practices, including configuration management, branching strategies, and artifact management.
- Familiarity with containerization and virtualization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, or virtual test environments) is beneficial.
- Experience with monitoring, logging, and quality assurance tools to track build health, test coverage, and release readiness.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional engineering teams, communicate clearly, and document workflows and standards.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field
