About the role

Duties

The successful selectee will perform the following duties:
Administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automatic external defibrillation (AED) for a patient.
Identify, collect, and interpret hazards of known and unknown hazardous materials involved.
Analyze the structural condition of a building to determine firefighting equipment and apparatus required to fight fire.
Drive a firefighting vehicle (e.g., pumper, aerial ladder truck, rescue truck, brush truck, quick-attack vehicle, airport rescue fire fighting vehicle) to the scene of a fire.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for this position, your resume must provide sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are being considered. Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing such duties as: 1) Performing rescue operations; 2) detecting, reducing, or eliminating potential fire hazards; 3) controlling hazardous materials incidents; 4) driving and operating firefighting vehicles; 5) performing non-invasive emergency medical procedures; and 6) effectively operates a wide variety of firefighting equipment. NOTE: THIS INFORMATION MUST BE SUPPORTED IN YOUR RESUME TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THE POSITION.

***This position also requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications: State or National Registry Emergency Medical Technician-Basic certification. In addition to the EMT-Basic certification this position also requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications: Fire Fighter II, Driver Operator-Pumper, Driver-Operator Aerial, and HAZMAT (Hazardous Materials) Technician. The firefighter related certifications must have been awarded by the DoD, IFSAC, or ProBoard to meet the requirement. If you do not possess all of the above certifications, you will be rated ineligible. NOTE: Copies of Certifications and/or the DoD Fire & Emergency Services Certification Program listing of certificates MUST be submitted with your application. ***
