Firefighters will staff two-person daylight shifts on weekdays at Max Meadows Fire Department, supplementing volunteer fire and emergency response to meet Wythe County’s desired public safety outcomes for residents, businesses, and visitors. The department serves the northeastern portion of Wythe County, including the busy eastern intersection of Interstates 81 and 77, several major truck stops, fuel centers, and RV parks along the interstates, major industries and construction sites at Progress Park, and a significant amount of national forest property.
