About This Role
This six-week internship offers the opportunity to work alongside skilled Fire Engineers on meaningful projects, gaining exposure to all aspects of fire safety engineering. You will contribute to varied and high-profile client work while being supported in learning about fire engineering and developing as a fire engineer.
Responsibilities
- Prepare fire strategies in coordination with the engineering design team
- Inspect and assess fire safety management and protection measures in existing buildings/facilities
- Liaise with external designers and other construction and building professionals on a wide range of projects
- Experience and develop ability to use fire-specific design software
- Conduct research in a variety of skills groups
- Visit sites to monitor the implementation of fire strategies and learn about the installation and construction of fire safety systems
- Undertake fire safety research to develop evidence-based solutions for novel fire safety hazards
- Strive to find ways to improve safety equity for the most vulnerable, for clients, and in partnership with academia and industry
- Apply a 'total fire engineering' approach, working on projects from feasibility to operation
- Enable a sustainable, resilient built environment, using the latest knowledge and expertise, assisted by in-house digital tools and software
Requirements
- Working towards a bachelor's degree or master's degree in a relevant academic discipline, such as Fire Engineering, Mechanical, Civil and Structural, Architectural or other relevant engineering subject
- A passion for sustainable development and creating a better world
