About the role

The Junior Executive (Fire Safety) will be responsible for implementing, monitoring, and maintaining robust fire safety protocols across the entire hospital facility. This role involves managing daily safety operations, ensuring compliance with statutory healthcare safety regulations, and keeping meticulous records. The ideal candidate will ensure a hazard-free environment for patients, critical care units, staff, and visitors.

1. Fire Safety Operations & Management

  • Routine Inspections: Conduct daily rounds across all hospital blocks, basements, and critical zones (like ICUs and OT complexes) to identify and eliminate potential fire hazards.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Ensure all fire fighting equipment, including fire extinguishers, hydrants, sprinklers, and smoke detectors, are fully operational and serviced on time.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Act as a key responder during safety alerts, ensuring fire exit routes and emergency signage remain completely clear and unobstructed.

2. Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain Meticulous Documentation: Keep updated and error-free logs of fire safety checklists, equipment refilling schedules, and maintenance histories.
  • Audit Readiness: Prepare and organize all safety registers to ensure continuous compliance with healthcare accreditation standards (e.g., NABH) and statutory fire department norms.
  • Incident Reporting: Meticulously document any minor safety lapses or near-miss incidents, outlining the corrective actions taken.

3. Training & Team Support

  • Staff Mock Drills: Help organize and execute periodic fire mock drills, evacuation simulations, and basic fire fighting training for hospital staff, including the nursing and security teams.
  • Vendor Coordination: Supervise external vendors during fire system audits, testing, and equipment servicing to ensure quality compliance.

Desired Skills & Qualifications

  • Education: Diploma or Degree in Fire & Safety Management from a recognized institute.
  • Experience: 1 3 years of dedicated fire safety experience, preferably within a healthcare setup or a continuous-occupancy commercial facility.
  • Technical Skills: Sound knowledge of national building codes (NBC) for hospitals, fire alarm panels, and basic Excel for maintaining departmental safety tracking sheets.
  • Attributes: High alertness, strong communication skills for staff training, and a prompt response to emergency situations.
