Financial Services Specialist

About This Role

This financial services specialist role focuses on key collection functions for assigned accounts, optimizing cash flow through investigative, problem-solving, and account reconciliation skills. The position requires effective verbal and written communication skills for interacting with a wide range of external and internal customers.

Responsibilities

• Initiate action to facilitate on-time payment of invoices and to recover delinquent receivables
• Contact customers (via phone, e-mail, and mail) regarding delinquent invoices, invalid deductions, customer disputes, and terms discrepancies
• Document all customer collection contacts, specifically promises to pay, agreements, and information requests
• Consistently follow up to ensure customer information requests have been satisfied and commitments have been met
• Research and resolve customer disputes and issues
• Identify and follow up on customer payment issues regarding terms of sale
• Communicate with Sales regarding receivable issues that cannot be resolved through normal payables contacts
• Inform Credit Manager of any issues impacting the corporate DSO and receivable delinquency objectives
• Ensure customer billing address and terms are accurately reflected in the Customer Master File
• Prepare reports to reflect status of collection activity and key delinquency issues
• Initiate appropriate credit action on those orders that have failed the credit checking review
• Request increase in credit lines for customers who have exhibited timely payment patterns and have exceeded their established line of credit
• Communicate negative payment trends and other critical customer issues to the Credit Financial Analyst group
• Communicate customer referral order issues with Credit management and Sales to affect resolutions in line with Corporate MECP objectives
• Maintain effective communication and negotiation skills with external customers to effect collections while maintaining customer goodwill

Requirements

• Bilingual (English & French) to communicate with head office, suppliers, internal and external clients
• 3+ years of commercial credit collection experience
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Demonstrates proficiency in both Mainframe and PC applications, including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and other applications as required
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Self-motivated with the ability to work in a team environment
