Position Description:
The role of the Financial Examiner is to travel 50% of the time throughout the state of Kansas to credit unions for the purpose of performing examinations. The Financial Examiner is assigned one or more areas of specific examination responsibility. All examinations will be conducted according to the guidelines established by the Kansas Department of Credit Unions (KDCU) and the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA).
After initial training has been completed, the Financial Examiner will be expected to act as Examiner in Charger for smaller, less complex credit unions. The incumbent can be located in any area of the state.
Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
- Determine the accuracy and completeness of transactions in the credit unions daily statements
- Perform an analysis of the credit unions Income and Expense accounts
- Verify supporting documents
- Review and analyze the Allowance for Loan Loss Reserve account to verify compliance with State and Federal regulatory guidelines for an adequate reserve
- Analyze the credit unions Asset Liability Management program focusing on their liquidity position and interest rate risk exposure
- Discuss the credit union's practices, policies, and monitoring with management and credit unions officials
- Conducts the analysis and presents findings and recommendation to the Examiner in Charge, regarding any assigned investigations or research
- Develop, document, and present the results of these findings and the supporting documents with recommendations for action to the Examiner in Charge
- Evaluate the credit unions security holdings and determine financial risk
- Assess interest rate sensitivity
- Review credit union compliance with State and Federal disclosure requirements, laws, rules and regulations, audit procedures and reports findings to the Examiner in Charge
- Review and determine the quality of the credit union's primary earning assets; generally, all types of loans as it relates to credit underwriting and administration, servicing, laws and regulations and inherent risk
- Attend scheduled training events and department meetings
- Perform special projects and duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Ability to travel in-state 50% of the time
- Ability to review state and federal regulations and verify compliance in real operations in credit unions
- Ability to perform in a public speaking capacity to both large and small groups of boards or directors and peers regarding examination findings and regulatory/statutory non-compliance
- Valid Driver’s License
