Finance Associate, Engineering Finance

About This Role

This finance associate role focuses on engineering finance, specifically owning the development and production cost estimations for new products. The role partners with leadership and various teams to translate engineering problems into quantitative measures with a financial lens, involving analytical problem-solving, process improvements, and financial model building.

Responsibilities

• Support projects end-to-end, from definition and solution to implementation, solving ambiguous problems with little prescription
• Execute quick analyses on short timelines to get answers quickly, while also owning scalable solutions for long-term success
• Project manage across many stakeholders, leading meetings and wrangling stakeholders towards solutions
• Work across functions, interacting with Finance, Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and more to learn the business top-to-bottom
• Own detailed should-cost models end-to-end, from on-the-ground data gathering to creating materials and presenting to stakeholders
• Build parametric cost models for a variety of products, breaking them down into first principles including capability and physics
• Tie entire product life cycle costs together to forecast product business case viability, opportunities, and risks
• Create novel frameworks for establishing a strong "value engineering" muscle
• Establish transparency into material cost for existing and future Anduril products
• Build financial models that help set material cost targets for different products
• Work with the Engineering and Supply Chain teams to develop and implement cost reduction roadmaps
• Help executives think through tradeoffs in product features vs. costs vs. profitability

Requirements

• Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in manufacturing finance, engineering finance, or an engineering role
• Strong understanding of mathematics or model building
• Strong analytical aptitude, intuitively thinking about problems in terms of numbers
• Ability to quickly execute analyses in Excel
• Ability to quantify complex, often ambiguous problems
• Deep fascination with the intersection of engineering design and how businesses grow and scale
• Comfortable communicating broadly and having a lot of eyes on your work, including large groups and senior leadership
• Enjoy working in an environment with flexibility for appointments or errands, and comfortable responding to Slacks in the evening
• Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export-controlled information or facilities

Nice to have:

• Basic understanding of engineering design within one or more of the following: aerospace, software, maritime, or electronics
