Finance Assistant

About This Role

The Finance Assistant will manage day-to-day transactional accounting, maintain system integrity, and support month-end closing processes within the Corporate team. This remote opportunity involves working closely with the Financial Controller and CFO to ensure accurate, complete, and reliable financial data across all systems, playing a critical role in scaling operations.

Responsibilities

• Review, validate, and reconcile system inputs/outputs to resolve data discrepancies and maintain financial data integrity across all reports
• Execute daily bank reconciliations
• Manage PO compliance
• Process invoices/payments via Xero, CBA, and Airwallex under trading terms
• Prepare weekly draft EFT payment batches
• Support monthly payroll processing
• Track staff leave
• Reconcile payroll clearing and superannuation accounts
• Prepare GST and PAYG for BAS submissions
• Close the GL to schedule
• Post journals (accruals, prepayments, capitalization, amortization, depreciation)
• Maintain the fixed asset register
• Complete all balance sheet account reconciliations
• Generate regular and ad-hoc financial reports
• Address communication exceptions promptly with suppliers and leadership
• Assist the CFO/FC with board reporting and strategic projects

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience working with Australian companies, with sound technical knowledge in relation to GST and payroll obligations
• 3+ years of experience with Xero (all functions including processing payroll and reporting functions)
• 5+ years of managing end-to-end accounting processes
• G-Suite / MS Office intermediate experience
• Excellent attention to detail
• Resilient/self-starter/able to work independently with minimal supervision in a remote working environment
• Flexibility to enjoy and thrive within a fast-paced, agile, and expanding scale-up environment
