Finance Assistant

About This Role

The Finance Assistant will take ownership of day-to-day financial activities, working closely with the Finance Lead and COO to improve the accuracy and reliability of accounts. This role involves resolving accounting discrepancies, enhancing financial processes, and ensuring smooth account operations, offering independence and the opportunity to make a measurable impact as the business grows.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate financial records in Quick Books
• Reconcile accounts and resolve discrepancies
• Manage supplier invoices, expenses, and payments
• Monitor accounts payable and receivable
• Review historical accounting issues
• Support month-end reporting, VAT preparation, and year-end activities
• Process monthly UK payroll
• Maintain employee payroll and pension records
• Complete reconciliations and required submissions
• Support the Finance Lead/CFO with purchasing, invoice matching, receipt management, and accurate recordkeeping
• Maintain financial spreadsheets and documentation
• Help improve accounting and purchasing processes as new systems are introduced

Requirements

• At least 2 years' experience in finance and Quick Books
• Experience processing UK monthly payroll
• Confident Excel and Microsoft Office skills
• Excellent attention to detail, organisation and accuracy

Nice to have:

• AAT level 2+, or equivalent practical experience
• Familiarity with financial software and tools such as Zoho, Pleo and Revolut
