Film Production Intern

About This Role

This paid internship offers practical experience, meaningful responsibility, and the opportunity to build credits while helping bring real film projects to life. It is a hands-on role in a small production team where plans can change, resources are limited, and everyone needs to pitch in. The position is ideal for up-and-coming filmmakers who are self-starters and comfortable working independently while checking in consistently with the director for approval.

Responsibilities

• Check in regularly with the director about priorities, progress, questions, and obstacles
• Keep a current running task list, track what’s complete, and flag what needs attention next
• Work independently between check-ins and follow through on agreed tasks
• Speak up promptly when stuck, see a problem developing, or need clarification
• Bring possible solutions to the director and take part in conversations about how to address production challenges
• Adapt when the schedule, priorities, or immediate focus changes
• Participate in writers' room activities
• Update scripts with re-writes instructed by the director
• Tag scripts for props and organize, order, and return props and supplies
• Run errands and prepare craft services
• Assist with art department tasks, set design, set and prop creation and management
• Support fundraising for projects, marketing, and social media
• Help prepare for shoots, organize props and gear, and reset locations between scenes
• Assist with camera, lighting, and sound setup, and support filming on set
• Help track footage, back up media, and keep production files organized
• Support editing and post-production using tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro
• Pitch in on other production tasks as needed and care for shared equipment and studio spaces

Requirements

• Genuine interest in filmmaking and a willingness to learn by doing
• Self-motivation, reliability, and follow-through
• Ability to stay on task independently while communicating consistently with the director
• Confidence asking questions, requesting help, raising concerns, and discussing solutions respectfully
• Strong organization, including keeping track of tasks, deadlines, and shifting priorities
• Flexibility when plans change or an urgent task needs attention
• Clear communication and the ability to collaborate in a small team
• Comfort working in a small, home-studio production environment

• Basic experience with editing, cameras, lighting, sound, or production organization
