Job Summary:
Teledyne FLIR Defense is a leading provider of advanced detection, surveillance, and sensing technologies supporting military, federal, state, local, and international customers. We are seeking a Field Service Technician to install, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and upgrade advanced electronic and electro-mechanical systems deployed across airborne, land, maritime, and unmanned aircraft system (UAS) platforms. This role serves as a primary customer-facing technical resource, providing onsite support, technical training, and system diagnostics at customer locations throughout the United States (25% - 45% travel) , with occasional international travel. This position is primarily customer-facing and requires strong troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills. Primary responsibilities are electrical and mechanical in nature, with occasional software and hardware support.
Job Qualifications:
- Associate degree, trade education, military technical training, or equivalent experience in Electronics Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Electro-Mechanical Systems, Aviation Maintenance, or related field preferred.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in field service, electronics repair, avionics, industrial maintenance, automation, military systems, or electro-mechanical troubleshooting.
- Strong troubleshooting experience with electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
- Experience using diagnostic tools such as multimeters and oscilloscopes.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Valid driver's license and ability to obtain and maintain a passport.
- Ability to work independently in field environments.
- Ability and willingness to travel 25%-45%, including occasional international travel.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Military technical experience involving electronics, avionics, communications, radar, sensors, surveillance systems, or UAS platforms.
- Experience supporting government, defense, aerospace, or public safety customers.
- Experience with EO/IR sensors, thermal imaging, surveillance systems, or optronics technologies.
- Experience providing technical training to customers or end users.
- Familiarity with SAP or similar enterprise maintenance systems.
- Prior EO/IR or thermal imaging experience is a plus, but not required. Product-specific training will be provided.
