About This Role
Developing innovative clothing designs and understanding current fashion trends is the core of this role, creating designs that meet customer preferences. The position suits a creative and detail-oriented Fashion Designer with knowledge of garment construction, fabrics, pattern making, and fashion illustration, who can coordinate with tailoring and production teams to ensure quality output.
Responsibilities
- Develop creative designs for women's wear, ethnic wear, casual wear, and other clothing collections
- Create fashion sketches, design concepts, and mood boards
- Research current fashion trends, colours, fabrics, and market preferences
- Develop new collections based on seasonal trends and customer requirements
- Select suitable fabrics, colours, prints, accessories, and embellishments
- Understand fabric quality, texture, durability, and suitability for different garments
- Coordinate fabric sourcing and material selection according to design requirements and budget
- Prepare garment specifications, measurements, and technical drawings
- Develop patterns and coordinate sample garment preparation
- Ensure proper fitting, finishing, and quality of garments
- Suggest alterations and improvements based on fitting trials
- Coordinate with tailors, pattern makers, and production staff to execute designs
- Monitor the garment-making process to ensure designs are implemented accurately
- Conduct quality checks and ensure timely completion of orders
- Resolve design and fitting issues during production
- Understand customer preferences and provide suitable design suggestions
- Develop customised designs based on customer requirements
- Coordinate measurements, fittings, alterations, and final delivery
- Maintain customer satisfaction through quality designs and service
- Maintain design records, fabric details, samples, and measurement specifications
- Coordinate with the store team regarding fabric and accessory availability
- Support new collection launches, photoshoots, and promotional activities when required
Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Fashion Designing, Apparel Designing, or a related field
- Minimum 2-3 years of relevant experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of fabrics, garment construction, pattern making, and fitting
- Experience in boutique operations, customised clothing, or women's wear is preferred
Nice to have:
- Proficiency in fashion illustration and design software such as Adobe Illustrator or CorelDRAW
