About the role

Duties

This is a permanent full time position located in the maintenance division of Devils Tower National Monument. The incumbent functions under the general supervision of the park Chief of Maintenance and provides technical and administrative assistance to the Chief of Maintenance and other divisions. The incumbent is the park's primary Facility Management Software System (FMSS) support assistant and is responsible for implementation and use of this program. Responsible for the operation and reporting requirements in Federal Business Management System (FBMS). Duties including providing data collection, data input, reports, database management, and data validation, completing condition assessments, maintaining the park-wide work request system and tracking overall record of maintenance operations in the maintenance management database. The incumbent trains other park and NPS employees in FMSS, AMP, and other related programs for Devils Tower National Monument, and parks of the FMSS Northern Rockies PAMO.

Government Housing is not available for this position.

Devils Tower N.M. is our nation's first National Monument. It was set aside to preserve the 867 foot column of igneous rock along with prehistoric/historic cultural resources and the plants and animal life of the area. Park size is 1,347 acres with an elevation of about 3,800 feet. The climate is usually mild and typical of the Black Hills region. High temperatures can range from the mid 90s in the summer to the 50s in the spring and fall. The three closest communities, Hulett (9 miles), Sundance (28 miles), and Moorcroft (30 miles) have basic services. The larger communities of Spearfish, SD, and Gillette, WY are approximately 1 hour away with many services available.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position at the GS-07 grade level, you must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:

EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: maintaining asset management databases; preparing reports; updating cost components; analyzing report data to ensure accuracy; coordinating assessment surveys, asset inventories, and condition assessments; and providing administrative support pertaining to the collection of data including equipment and feature inventories and specification templates. You must include hours per week worked. -OR- EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least one full year of graduate level education directly related to the work of this position (engineering, industrial arts, property management, or business administration) (based on the # of hours that the school attended determined to represent 1 full year of fulltime study; if unavailable, then 18 semester credits will be considered as satisfying the requirement). You must include transcripts. -OR- Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above. For example: 6 months of specialized experience and 9 graduate credits directly related to the position would satisfy 50% of the education requirement and 50% of the specialized experience. You must include transcripts.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

You must include months, years and hours per week worked to receive credit for your work and/or volunteer experience. One year of specialized experience is equivalent to 12 months at 40 hours per week. Part-time hours are prorated. You will not receive any credit for experience that does not indicate exact hours per week or is listed as "varies".

Education

To qualify based on education, you must submit a legible copy of transcripts from an accredited institution with your name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking. Transcripts do not need to be official, but if you are selected for this position and you used your education to qualify, you must provide official transcripts before you begin work.

If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet qualification requirements, you must show that your education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
