Position Summary & Responsibilities
Position Summary:
This position performs skilled and semi-skilled work in the maintenance, repair, and operational support of Kansas State Fairgrounds facilities and infrastructure. The incumbent assists in construction and repair projects, assists in the overseeing of grounds upkeep, supports event operations, supervises assigned staff, and ensures compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

Coordinate and execute setup, servicing, and tear-down of Fair and non-Fair events, including:
- Livestock pen construction
- Temporary stage or riser construction and setup
- Basic sound system setup

Work directly with facility renters to ensure contract specifications are met and events are successfully executed.

Supervise work crews; plan, assign, and reviews work activities.

Work with Operations Manager and Assistant Operations Manager to ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards, including ADA, Fire Safety, and Life Safety requirements.
Qualifications
- Work large equipment including: Bobcat, Forklift, Talihandler, etc.
Minimum Qualifications**:**
- Knowledge of general maintenance, construction, and repair practices.
- Ability to read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and technical documents.
- Ability to safely operate tools, equipment, and machinery.
- Ability to supervise and direct the work of others.
- Effective communication and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications**:**
- Experience in facility or grounds maintenance in a large venue or event-based environment.
- Knowledge of ADA, fire safety, and life safety codes and compliance standards.
- Experience in event setup and coordination.
