About the role

About This Role

This role is for a Facilities Technician responsible for the daily operational assistance needed to maintain the overall cleanliness of a facility, including the front office and client areas. The technician also performs physical labor for tasks such as drywall patching, painting, stocking, and organizing materials. The position is Monday through Friday, but requires flexibility to provide coverage at night or on weekends for emergencies or client needs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and ensure the day-to-day cleanliness of the facility, including the data center, customer area, office space, and restrooms (including minor issues such as unstopping toilets or tightening toilet seats)
  • Assist front-of-house office area requests, including furniture moves, material movement, lighting (changing lightbulbs), and cleanliness
  • Maintain client cages on the data floor, including removal of data floor debris
  • Prepare and submit summary reports of conditions in buildings and recommend actions to be taken
  • Order, track, and restock facility-related consumable items and parts, ensuring performance at the lowest possible cost
  • Move heavy items with a cart, pallet jack, or forklift
  • Perform project work or duties assigned by a supervisor, and continually monitor material processes for improvement
  • Accurately document daily tasks and report all findings
  • Clean building floors and data floors by sweeping, mopping, hot mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming them
  • Gather and empty trash
  • Service, clean, and supply restrooms
  • Clean and polish furniture and fixtures
  • Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment
  • Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees
  • Perform physical labor for various maintenance functions, including minor repairs, drywall repair and finish, painting, wall hangings, and stocking/organizing materials
  • Remove debris from sidewalks, driveways, and parking areas
  • Set up, arrange, and remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, and scaffolding to prepare facilities for events such as banquets and meetings
  • Safely mix water and detergents in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications
  • Steam-clean or shampoo carpets
  • Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors
  • Clean and restore building interiors using commercial cleaning equipment
  • Drive vehicles required to perform or travel to cleaning work, including vans, industrial trucks, or industrial vacuum cleaners
  • As time permits, assist the Mechanical and Electrical CFOps team members with day-to-day tasking such as filter replacement, Cooling Tower Yard cleaning, and any other basic tasks

    Important Details

    • Schedule: Monday through Friday, with flexibility to provide coverage at night or weekends for emergencies or client requirements
    • Physical requirements: Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment, up to 50 lbs.; communicate effectively with verbal, visual, and listening skills; motor skills necessary to complete physical work and computer tasks; able to climb a ladder and work on a raised platform; dexterity of hands and fingers to operate any required computer keyboard, mouse, and other technical instruments
    • Work conditions: Typical office and data center work environment with varying temperatures and loud noises; PPE required including sturdy work boots, hardhat, glasses, and a high visibility vest when performing certain tasks; regular daily usage of a computer or workstation
    • Special requirements: Forklift Certification to be provided during employment; CPR/First Aid Certification to be provided during employment; must wear close-toed shoes with a solid leather or composite sole; must possess a current, valid state-issued driver’s license; requires flexibility to work additional hours in evenings or weekends to meet business requirements or client needs
