Facilities Manager

About This Role

Maintaining accountability for actions that impact multiple departments, this Facilities Manager oversees the maintenance and operations of multiple facilities. The role ensures facilities remain safe, clean, and well-maintained while managing budgets and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. It involves providing administrative supervision and support to team members and participating in policy and procedure development.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the development of policies and procedures
• Oversee the department's budget management
• Lead operations in alignment with the District's strategic plan
• Supervise, evaluate, schedule, and assign work to personnel using the District's performance management instrument
• Recommend overtime assignments as needed based on available budget
• Supervise assigned trades personnel, including carpenters, plumbers, electricians, glaziers, Plant Engineers, General Maintenance Workers, and other assigned trades
• Coordinate professional development training for Plant Engineers and Trade Technicians
• Lead and manage budgeting and financial processes in compliance with Board policies and regulations
• Allocate resources and maintain sufficient inventories of supplies, equipment, and assets needed to support specialized trades and life cycle replacement schedules
• Manage work orders and service requests from schools
• Communicate and coordinate work plans with building-level leadership
• Ensure assigned work is completed, documented, and closed out in a timely manner
• Oversee District-wide inspections of school buildings and monitor preventive maintenance activities to ensure operational readiness and life safety
• Follow up on overdue or incomplete preventive maintenance work
• Utilize the District's Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to monitor work orders, preventive maintenance activities, documentation, completion status, and service trends to identify recurring facility issues and opportunities for improvement
• Monitor assigned maintenance projects and vendor work for schedule, quality, completion, and proper documentation
• Ensure assigned vendors operate under the direct supervision of District staff
• Collaborate with Operations, General Maintenance, Maintenance, Safety, Capital Improvements, and school personnel on projects and facility-related issues
• Maintain communication with school personnel to enhance customer satisfaction
