Fabricator

About This Role

Fabricating stainless steel food processing machinery using various techniques is the main focus of this role. The fabricator will apply their knowledge of machines, tools, design principles, and technical plans to build precision equipment, manage project time, and perform routine maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Operate manufacturing equipment and use safe work habits
• Read and interpret blueprints and work orders
• Use an understanding of fabrication mathematics
• Measure and verify dimensions using various measuring devices: tape measure, calipers, machinist square, protractor
• Identify, retrieve, and install the required punch based on bend radius
• Identify, retrieve, and install the required die based on material thickness
• Download program files, or program a press brake at the controller
• Program each program step using tonnage mode, angle mode/absolute position
• Properly and safely operate a press brake from a variety of manufacturers
• Use knowledge of a CNC laser cutting machine and other machinery used in the production process
• Troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve operating and fabricating challenges
• Communicate potential problems to lead/supervisor
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment
• Comply with all quality, safety and work rules and regulations
• Understand and maintain both quality and quantity standards and expectations
• Continually seek to improve work processes and individual performance
• Perform other tasks assigned by the lead or department manager

Requirements

• High School Diploma / Equivalency preferred
• 5 years experience in metal fabrication
• Laser experience required
• Must be able to read and interpret blueprints
• Computer experience
• Learns quickly when facing new problems; open to change; strives for continuous improvement of self and processes
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to convey information and ideas
• Must be able to work overtime including some weekends when workload requires this
