About the role
Develops and conducts therapeutic exercise sessions for cardiac rehab participants.
Description:
- Records blood pressures, observes patient's condition, observes monitor for indications of positive tests or other complications.
- Performs pulse oximetry recognizing variation in methods and testing parameters required for various age groups.
- Monitors and records heart activity, using telemetry, while patient undergoes exercise on rehab equipment, under physician's supervision.
- Assesses body composition using scale, tape measure, skinfold calipers or other techniques.
- Explains program and test procedures to patients.
- Develops proficiency in operating exercise testing system.
- Evaluates patients overall health, with special attention to cardiovascular function and metabolism.
- Designs individualized exercise plans, based on patients’ needs and goals.
- Advises patients about nutrition, risk reduction, and ongoing exercise regimens.
- Teaches patient education and behavior modification classes.
- Follows department procedures for responding to cardiac arrests.
- Attends and participates in educational programs, in-service meetings, workshops, and other activities as related to job performance and job knowledge.
- Performs other work related duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications:
Exercise Physiologist (S15)
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:
- Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
- Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science.
- Successful passage of Basic Arrhythmia Program or challenge exam within 3 months of position.
- Certified in BLS.
- Previous experience in adult fitness or cardiac rehabilitation preferred.
Exercise Physiologist Clinical Specialist (S16B)
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:
- Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
- Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science.
- Successful passage of Basic Arrhythmia Program or challenge exam within 3 months of position.
- Certified in BLS.
- Previous experience in adult fitness or cardiac rehabilitation preferred.
- Documentation of Specialist Certification.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serves as a clinical resource for Cardiac Rehab staff.
- Assists management in the planning, development and organization of the specified clinical specialty area.
Schedule Details: Per Diem Hours, Rotating Days, 8:15a-4:15p, No Weekends and No Holidays
