Executive Director

About This Role

Leading the Murphy Centre, a non-profit community organization, this full-time permanent position provides visionary leadership, champions the mission, and guides the organization's growth and impact. The Executive Director is responsible for strategic leadership, operational oversight, financial stewardship, and community engagement, reporting directly to the Board of Directors.

Responsibilities

• Provide visionary leadership and direction aligned with the organization's philosophy, mission, and strategic plan
• Work collaboratively with the Board of Directors to develop and implement strategic initiatives
• Identify opportunities for growth, partnerships, and program development
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and collaborative organizational culture
• Oversee day-to-day operations and ensure efficient delivery of programs and services
• Develop and implement policies, procedures, and organizational best practices
• Create an open, collaborative, and respectful working environment that fosters innovative solutions that address the diverse educational and career development needs of clients
• Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, provincial, and regulatory requirements
• Responsible for the overall administration of the organization, including payroll, human resources, facilities, information management, and office operations
• Develop and manage annual and project budgets in collaboration with the Board
• Monitor financial performance and ensure responsible stewardship of organizational resources
• Oversee financial reporting, audits, and risk management processes
• Ensure compliance with funding agreements and reporting requirements
• Oversees payroll operations, including processing, reporting, and legislative compliance
• Build and maintain relationships with partners, funders, foundations, government agencies, and corporate partners
• Lead fundraising efforts, including grant applications, donor relations, sponsorships, and special events
• Identify and pursue new funding opportunities to support organizational sustainability
• Promote employee engagement, professional development, and workplace wellbeing
• Provide leadership, coaching, and guidance to staff engaged in the delivery and administration of various programs
• Recruit, lead, mentor, and evaluate staff and volunteers
• Ensure compliance with employment legislation and organizational policies
• Act as the primary spokesperson and ambassador for the organization
• Build strong relationships with community stakeholders, partners, and government representatives
• Promote awareness of the organization's mission, programs, and impact
