Executive Director

Requirements

• Post-secondary education in sport management, business administration, nonprofit management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Minimum three years of experience in a leadership, management, or organizational coordination role
• Demonstrated experience managing budgets, financial processes, or organizational resources
• Experience with grant applications, sponsorship development, fundraising, or other external funding initiatives
• Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational skills, initiative, and the ability to manage competing priorities independently
• Demonstrated ability to solve problems, exercise sound judgment, and take responsibility for outcomes
• Commitment to inclusive participation, ethical leadership, and community development
• Willingness to develop or maintain knowledge of Safe Sport requirements and risk management practices
• Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel within Alberta and occasionally nationally
• Ability to obtain a satisfactory police information check, including vulnerable sector screening
• English fluidly

Nice to have:

• Experience working in a nonprofit, provincial sport organization, or community sport environment
• Experience working with a volunteer Board of Directors or governance committees
• Demonstrated success developing partnerships, securing sponsorships, or diversifying organizational funding
• Experience in government relations, community advocacy, or facility development
• Familiarity with Alberta's sport system or field hockey
• Experience with membership management systems, digital marketing, or organizational communications
• 1 year of sport management experience
• 1 year of non profit experience

Important Details

• Schedule: 40 hours per week, varies seasonally with peak activity during spring and summer months; flexibility required, including evening and weekend commitments
• Contract: full-time, two-year term, subject to continued organizational funding
• Work format: hybrid, with a minimum of three days per week in the Calgary office
• Travel: within Alberta and occasionally nationally may be required
