Executive Director

About This Role

Leading Habitat for Humanity of Schenectady County's daily operations and capacity-building efforts is the core of this executive role. The Executive Director serves as the chief operating officer, providing overall leadership, strategic vision, and operational oversight to advance the mission of building safe, decent, and affordable housing.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with the Board of Directors to establish long-term strategic goals, ensure organizational sustainability, and maintain compliance with Habitat for Humanity International standards and affiliate policies
• Lead comprehensive fundraising initiatives, cultivate major donor relationships, oversee grant acquisition, and secure capital to fund home construction, land acquisition, and community outreach efforts
• Serve as the primary spokesperson and ambassador for the organization to enhance public visibility, build partnerships with local government, corporate sponsors, community leaders, and faith-based groups
• Oversee the organization’s financial health, including budget development, financial reporting, risk management, and operational efficiency across homebuilding, mortgage servicing, and ReStore operations
• Manage, inspire, and develop professional staff and key volunteers, fostering a collaborative and mission-driven organizational culture

Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in executive leadership, nonprofit management, or organizational development
• Strong expertise in major donor cultivation, campaign management, and strategic development
• Deep commitment to affordable housing and community revitalization
