African Climate Alliance (ACA)
This is an opportunity to lead a respected youth-led non-profit working for Afrocentric climate justice into its next phase of stability and growth. The Executive Director is the most senior leader, accountable to the board for strategic direction, governance, financial sustainability, and organisational coherence. The role provides strategic oversight rather than managing day-to-day operations.
Nice to have:
The African Climate Alliance (ACA) is a youth-led non-profit working for Afrocentric climate justice. It was founded in 2019 by school-going youth who organised Cape Town’s first major climate protest, and formalised as an organisation in 2020. ACA has since grown from street protest into equipping young people to influence policy and lead change in their communities. ACA’s programmes follow a clear pathway: educate, advocate, mobilise and campaign. Its flagship Youth Ambassador programme builds a network of young climate leaders across Africa, with field officers in Zambia and Malawi and plans to expand further. After a period of change and restructuring, ACA is settling a new organisational structure, and an interim board is establishing a permanent board.
